It’s been 6 whole months since I started this Substack journey, and what a 6 months it’s been! Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you for being here with me. There are hundreds and hundreds of you who now subscribe and read my posts, which is just incredible. If I’m honest, I expected a few dozen. No more.
This Substack of mine has felt so different. It’s not like social media, it’s not like I’m talking to a mailing list, and it’s not like a blog. It’s a space where I can write quite deep and vulnerable posts to other people who just get it. YOU get it. Sure, technically you’re a stranger on the internet, but I feel like I know you, and you know me. You don’t judge my monthly goals and intentions posts where I reveal how much debt I’m in. You comfort me when I say I’m having a tough week. You support me by sharing, recommending and re-stacking my Substack. You’re just all-round wonderful people, and this community is just a joyous group to be a part of.
Your support has meant that every week I look forward to sitting down and writing my posts. If I’m honest, these posts have been swirling around in my head for years, and now I get to bring them to life and share them with you. I feel like they’re my best work because I’m not hiding. I’m not trying to impress an algorithm, or write specific words in a specific order so that Google can ‘index’ me and rank me higher in search. I don’t feel like I’m spamming you with targeted ads and boosted posts. I feel authentic, honest, excited albeit a tad vulnerable whenever I post.
The best part about being here on Substack, understandably, has been that you have loved my work too. You have written back to me and shared your stories, perspectives and thoughts. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that, and how honoured I am that you trust me enough to share yourselves with me. You, dear reader, have made Simple & Calm more than just a blog, mailing list, newsletter or whatever else you want to call it. You’ve made it into a wonderful community of kind, supportive individuals. And it’s been a privilege to get to know you all.
Now, you know I’ve always been honest with you in my posts, and I need to be honest with you here in this one too. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love writing my bi-weekly posts, but on a cost per time ratio, it’s becoming quite expensive from my side to continue the way I am.
Therefore, I have a small favour to ask. If you like what you read and you enjoy my posts in your inbox (or the app) each week, and you are at a point in your life where you can support me, now would be a fantastic time to become a paid subscriber. I love being a paid subscriber to support the work of other writers I enjoy. I hope the last 6 months have given you a good insight into whether you’d like to stick around with me or not.
Paid subscribers get access to all my writing, the entire Simple & Calm course, the workbooks, the freebies, the downloads, and all the support in the private chat function. I’m also in the process of planning a podcast series for paid subscribers only. The price of a paid subscriber is £5 a month, or £50 for the year, which works out at less than £1 a week.
“Loving your Simple and Calm course, I’ve been with you from the beginning. Just on lesson 16 now. I’ve found the course to be so inspiring, it’s been a game changer for me. The spreadsheet and budget creation has an eye opener. It’s certainly got me thinking about my spending habits.”
- Debbie, a Simple & Calm student
